Black Rose Boston

The Scene – The Black Rose Boston is a medium to large sized Irish Pub on the edge of Faneuil Hall and the Financial District that attracts mostly a crowd 30 and 40-somethings. The main room is square shaped with Irish pub decor everywhere. There is a bar along the whole back wall of The Black Rose Boston and restaurant style seating in the whole middle part of the room. At the front (near the window) there is a stage where the live bands play. There are flags hanging all over the ceiling at The Black Rose and all sorts of kitschy Irish decor adorning the walls. Upstairs has a really nice finished wood bar and a separate, more secluded area with restaurant seating and booths. The Black Rose Boston is a lively atmosphere, the bartenders have all been there for a long time providing top notch service to their clientele. Come here to soak in the wonderful Irish surroundings and the live music that is sure to never disappoint.

Being 36, this place is cool because it’s one of the only places around Faneuil that is more my speed. In other words, the crowd is a little older and more mature than the other places around here. The live music is good too.

So disappointed in The Black Rose!
We went in to have a few drinks after dinner on a Saturday night 5/23/15. My daughter joined us (so 3 ppl). My daughter and I sitting on stools at the bar my husband standing with us. It was 9:30 when an employee came up to us and told us we had to give up our seats due to a
“Fire code” he proceeded to take away our seats! SERIOUSLY made us get off our seats!! He moved them over to the side (about 10ft from us), While we had just ordered our 3rd drink!! with in 2 minutes other people took our seats! He didn’t remove them. He proceeded to take away everyones seats! not even waiting until customers to finish their drinks!
My husband stated his unhappiness and the employee just continued to remove seats.
Clearly stuffing the bar with people is there only goal! with no regard for customers who are currently spending their money at the bar!
I asked a few other bars that night & no bartender could believe that would happen!
SHAME on you Black Rose! We will be sure to spread the word, when people ask us were we go to enjoy a Pint & some music… there are MANY other choices in Irish Pubs in that area and will tell them not to be spending any money at YOURS!
