21st Amendment Boston

May 7th, 2011, 04:05:36 Lito

21st Amendment Boston on the cusp of being a dive bar, definitely has the decor and dingy dive bar feel. They have a good trivia crowd on Sunday but can get packed early. Great place to grab a bite with friends after work. Like most neighborhood bars of it’s kind, there is a wide array of patrons ranging from young professionals to established veterans. 21st Amendment Boston is a bit expensive but well worth it. All in all it’s a small, dark, cramped venue and possibly the only place in Beacon Hill you won’t have cell reception.

Delux Boston

April 8th, 2011, 09:04:56 Bobby

Delux is off the beaten path in South End, pretty close to Back Bay and the Theater District. The place has cheap drinks (pretty sure I ordered three drinks and the bartender said $10.) The surprising thing about Delux is that despite the fact that it is a dive, the atmosphere is always eclectic here on the weekends. Usually it is packed wall to wall to the point that you can barely even move which is surprising for a neighborhood bar. The food is of tex-mex sort, and keep in mind it is CASH ONLY!

An Tain

April 8th, 2011, 08:04:48 Bobby

An Tain is an Irish pub in the Financial District. It is fairly small in size and divey and they have plenty of TVs to watch a game.

Ames Plow Tavern

April 8th, 2011, 08:04:42 Bobby

Ames Plow Tavern is actually a great little Faneuil Hall bar in my opinion. Ames Plow is a breath of fresh air because it is in the midst of the overpriced tourist traps that Faneuil Hall is riddled with. The places that basically charge more because they can. Ames Plow has really cool bartenders, very good food and its “wicked” cheap! Plus, the patio is right out in the marketplace so in the warmer months it is A1 people watching real estate. Stop in sometime, even if its just for one drink before you go to the one of the other spots around it.

The Avenue Boston

April 8th, 2011, 08:04:25 Bobby

The Avenue Boston is a nice little dive bar in the thick of things in Allston that attracts a mixed crowd of patrons.

Beacon Hill Pub

April 8th, 2011, 07:04:50 Lito

Atmosphere – Beacon Hill Pub is a dive bar to the fullest. Not really your typical Beacon bar. Smells stale, kind of dingy, neon lights and traditional pub decor. They have games like Buck Hunter, Basketball and a punching bag one. In one of the snootiest areas of Boston though, Beacon Hill Pub is a […]

Castlebar Pub

April 8th, 2011, 05:04:12 Tyrell

Atmosphere – Castlebar Pub is a typical Irish dive bar setting with a full bar but nothing really out of the ordinary inside. It is fairly small in size and tends to get filled quickly by local patrons. Castlebar Pub is dimly lit and is themed with pictures and sports memorabilia. There are also plenty […]

Conor Larkins

April 8th, 2011, 04:04:39 Bobby

The Down Low – Conor Larkins has a traditional dive bar setting. It’s a fairly small venue with some restaurant seating, a pool table, and typical, kitschy beer decor throughout. If you’re looking to have a few nice IPAs, Conor Larkins is is not your place. If your looking the get banged up and eat […]

Copperfields Boston

April 8th, 2011, 04:04:43 Bobby

The Low Down – Copperfields Boston has a traditional bar setting and decor, pictures on wall, a lot of brown paint and an area in back for bands to play which is this bar’s specialty.  It has old school, dive bar type of feel which I absolutely love. Copperfields Boston is one of my favorites […]

Cornerstone Pub

April 8th, 2011, 04:04:27 Bobby

The Low Down – Southy…. dive….. bar. Needs I say more? Yes? Okay I will. Cornerstone Pub has dim lighting, traditional bar setting, basic bar memorabilia located throughout the establishment. This a small/medium sized venue, some restaurant seating throughout. Drinks are cheap at the Cornerstone Pub, the food is decent, you can catch a game here or just […]

The Hideout (Durgin Park)

April 8th, 2011, 03:04:35 Bobby

Atmosphere – The environment in The Hideout Boston is that almost of a dive bar. It isn’t necessarily dirty or dingy, it is just small, set under the famous Durgin Park restaurant so you feel like you might be in a bomb shelter. There is some restaurant seating at The Hideout Boston and medium sized […]

Flann OBriens

April 8th, 2011, 02:04:14 Bobby

The Low Down – Flann OBriens is an Irish Pub, dive bar that is a college hangout. Pretty small sized place. It almost resembles a really dark hallway. Irish pub kitsch and Guinness paraphernalia all over the place. Flann Obriens has a long skinny bar and some restaurant seating throughout. The best thing about Flann’s is waking up […]

Mary Anns Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:19 Bobby

Atmosphere – Mary Anns Boston is the epitome of a dive bar. It appears to be boarded up on the outside and the sign looks like it’s been there since the late 60s. I actually thought it was closed when I first drove by it. On the inside there, there are mirrors on the walls […]

Model Cafe

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:04 Bobby

The Model Cafe is a dive-style bar in the Allston neighborhood of Boston that attracts a crowd of talented artsy types, rockers, hipsters and other neighborhood folks.

Murphys Law Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:05 Bobby

Atmosphere – Murphys Law Boston is not dirty or anything but definitely has a dive feel. Dimly lit, small (but clean) bathrooms, average bar decor, finished wood everywhere and some restaurant seating. I’d say Murphys Law Boston is a small to medium sized space. They have darts and a jukebox to fiddle with. Address – […]

OBriens Allston

April 8th, 2011, 09:04:31 Bobby

Atmosphere – OBriens Allston is a typical dive bar with a punk rocker theme. This inside has a cozy feel and design made for live bands and it’s patrons. OBriens Allston has a full bar with wooden features to match its interior. O’ Brien’s Pub is also dimly lit to enhance the feel of being […]

Penguin Pizza Boston

April 8th, 2011, 09:04:13 Bobby

Atmosphere – Penguin Pizza Boston is all about the pizza. I swear when I walked in here I thought it was a pizza place with a pick up counter and I got all sorts of excited but then I realized you can just see into the kitchen and that its not actually a pick up […]

Punters Pub

April 8th, 2011, 08:04:09 Bobby

Atmosphere – Punters Pub has a college dive bar atmosphere. It is a fairly small venue but not as small as it looks from the outside. Punters Pub has a simple layout, traditional bar decor and a dingy but charming interior. Plus they have pool and darts and Golden Tee. Address – 450 Huntington. Boston, MA […]

Silhouette Allston

April 8th, 2011, 07:04:58 Bobby

Atmosphere – The Silhouette Allston is a dive bar to the fullest with. It is a small and old feeling with dive decor everywhere (Christmas tree lights are the quintessential dive decoration.) Along with pool and darts, they have Buck Hunter; so if you are that random creepy guy that plays the arcade  games the […]

Sports Connection

April 8th, 2011, 06:04:27 Bobby

The Skinny – The Sports Connection is a dive sports bar that is a smaller venue with some restaurant seating, sports on TV, beer and Boston kitsch. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a local South Boston dive. At the Sports Connection, they serve pitchers which is always a plus, but it never gets packed […]

Sullivans Tap

April 8th, 2011, 06:04:51 Bobby

Atmosphere – Sullivans Tap is a traditional dive located in on Canal Street across from the TD Banknorth Garden. It long in shape and is literally almost like a long corridor. Sullivans Tap is very thin with a bar lining the whole left wall and about seven feet of space in between the bar and […]

The Tam Boston

April 8th, 2011, 05:04:56 Bobby

Atmosphere – The Tam Boston is everything you would expect from a dive bar, long corridor set up but not too narrow so it doesn’t get stuffy. This is a small to medium sized, well lit venue with kitschy beer décor on the walls. The Tam Boston has arcade games in this little room in […]

TCs Lounge

April 8th, 2011, 05:04:22 Bobby

Atmosphere – TCs Lounge is a fairly small sized dive bar in between the Back Bay and Mission Hill. I’m still not 100 percent sure if TCs Lounge is actually a bar or an arcade that didn’t make its way out of the 90s. The walls are decorated with all sorts of rock’n’roll and nostalgic […]
