6B Lounge

May 7th, 2011, 06:05:22 Lito

There’s always something happening for all kinds of people at 6B. The wide range of industry nights attract a variety of people who appreciate the company of good friends. It’s a great combination of a classy place with a modern day feel. The price range isn’t outrageous as most people would expect from a nicer place nestled in between Beacon Hill and the Downtown area. The music is especially good on Friday nights where the biggest crowds gather for 90s night. The weekdays here tend to be a lot more subdued than if you go on weekend night I’ve noticed.

29 Newbury

May 7th, 2011, 06:05:49 Lito

This place certainly gets crowded early being a smaller venue and the ages range from young professionals to established veterans. Be prepared to spend money when you go, just like most upscale restuarant bars in the city, drinks are expensive. Also, Newbury Street and expensive are synonymous. I would highly recommend this place if you want to meet some high class people who certainly can hold a conversation with the best of them.

Kennedys Midtown

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:00 Bobby

Kennedy’s Midtown is a nice restaurant/Irish pub conveniently located near Downtown Crossing, Beacon Hill, Faneuil Hall, and Boston Commons. The inside has a standard feel as far as the decor and set up go, but it is pretty nice inside, bordering it on being an upscale bar. On a Friday or Saturday night it doesn’t get extremely crowded in there and you are unlikely to find a bunch of early 20s and college students hanging out here but the bar does tend to get comfortably full. Beers on tap were about $5, making it about on par for what most places charge around here and the selection was pretty good.

Telegraph Hill Bar

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:38 Bobby

Take a step into the 20-teens (that’s what I call this decade) and take advantage of Telegraph Hill’s technologically sound venue. They have wi-fi on the inside (which actually really helped me with my cell reception.) Also, if you want to peep the scene down there before you actually get ready to head on over to Telegraph Hill, click the link at the top of the page and check out a live feed of the inside of the bar between 1pm and 12am. Other than being tech savvy, this neighborhood watering hole has a great beer selection, all new everything, reasonable food and drink prices, awesome specials (10 cent tacos on Mondays are you kidding me?!) and in my opinion a friendly staff!

Hong Kong Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:28 Bobby

The one thing that may strike you the most about Hong Kong is that from the outside, you would swear it should be a restaurant in Chinatown. Then you walk in and the interior decor and set up has little, if anything to do with Hong Kong. I guess the point is that they’re the only bar around that you can eat Chinese food at while you drink, dance and party. I found it awesome that a guy walks around with $1 teriyaki sticks offering them up to all the patrons like they are franks at the ballpark. One thing to keep in mind is the place can get very crowded but I’d take crowded over empty any day of the week. If you go to Hong Kong, it is a must that you have one of their huge scorpion bowls and you and your friends eat some of the food, which inevitably gets more delicious the more you drink.

Emmets Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:35 Lito

Nestled in between Beacon Hill and Downtown Boston (areas both flush with commerce and a professional crowd) Emmet’s is a typical Irish Pub. Great place to go on a day like St. Patty’s day to hang out with friends, drink a few Guinnesses, and get rowdy (Irish style.) It is great for college kids as well as established veterans. They have fairly priced pub grub and very friendly staff. Emmet’s tends to also pick up a bit during happy hour when the 9-to-5ers drop in for a bite to avoid some of the traffic. Emmet’s is right next door to 6B Lounge and also connects to 6B through a hallway which I found to be interesting.

Hard Rock Boston

April 8th, 2011, 09:04:48 Lito

If you’re looking for a place where your friends can go enjoy some live music, shoot pool, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of this world famous chain restaurant, then look no further than the Hard Rock Boston. There’s a mini museum of historic Boston music where you can find out a little bit more about the history of the Boston music scene. The food and drinks can be a little pricey so definitely keep that in mind when heading over. The highlights of the Hard Rock Boston is the cool, interactive rock n roll atmosphere, the happy hour promotions and the live music.

North Star Boston

April 8th, 2011, 09:04:20 Bobby

North Star Boston is owned by the people that used to (and maybe still do) own the Good Life which is Downtown. It is located where DJs used to be. A lot of the interior is very similar looking to DJs and there is mostly the same set up and furniture but they have some new decor and cleaned the place up a tad. It can get a little bit crowded in here sometimes just as it used to in DJs and it can be a little difficult to get a drink at the bar but the music has been good when I’ve gone and I’ve heard they have good food too. North Star Boston has good promotions to get you in during the weekdays too so take advantage of those.
