Bijou Boston Nightclub

November 26th, 2011, 11:11:31 Bobby

On the edge of Chinatown and the Theater District, Bijou Boston Nightclub has been one of the premier house nightclubs in the city since late 2011. Up one flight of stairs, the layout of this place is very open (rectangular) and has a world class sound system that helps attract some of the most famous DJs in the world to spin there. The DJ booth is up to the left overseeing the club right when you enter. In the middle of the room are VIP tables and a dance floor in the middle of those. Past the VIP tables and dance floor is the main bar and to the right (at the back of the room) is another bar. In that back area is some VIP seating around the edges of the back of the room. Bijou’s electric lighting system, chic, futuristic vibe and thumping sound system has made it one of the most popular spots in Boston since it opened.

Emerald Lounge Boston

November 25th, 2011, 03:11:20 Bobby

In the Theater District’s beautiful new Revere Hotel, Emerald Lounge Boston is one of the new premier night spots. Open since 2012, this upscale club/lounge brings the Vegas/Miami club feel with it’s beautiful interior and exterior decor. The gold and silver finishes, neon lights and artistic fixtures hanging from the ceiling are what really really set off the interior here. It has a very futuristic, Jetsons-like vibe. Emerald Lounge is very open and spacious and never seems too crowded. In my opinion, the best part about this place is the single bathrooms. You will just have to see why when you go but they are unmatched by any others in Boston. On certain weekend nights, if you get there past 10, you might not get in so go early. Also, to enter, you must go through the back in the hotel. You cannot enter in the front.

Nix’s Mate Boston

November 25th, 2011, 03:11:35 Bobby

Acrossed from Rowe’s Wharf in the Financial District’s Hilton Hotel, Nix’s Mate is a laid back upscale lounge that has been open since 2012. With an attractive crowd of mostly late 20 and 30 somethings inhabiting this place, the decor is simple yet classy. White and light finished wood is the theme throughout, whether it be the floors, bar or back bar. This is a hotel restaurant by day but transforms after dinner on the weekends into a lively nightspot.

Julep Bar Boston

November 25th, 2011, 02:11:16 Bobby

Nestled in the Financial District, Julep Bar Boston has been a premier nightclub/lounge since mid 2012. In the space that was once occupied by Revolution Rock Bar, ownership shut down, revamped and opened up a brand new place. The new feel is classy, understated and modern. The furniture and decor are nice but not over the top. The layout is fairly open and there are two floors, one being ground level and the other being below it. On the top floor, the stairs downstairs are to your immediate right when you walk in. All along the right wall is a VIP lounge area (great to rent out for bachelorette parties). Right past that is the DJ booth at the back right wall and straight ahead at the way back is the bathrooms. To the left when you enter is some more VIP seating and most of the left of Julep is dominated by the large bar that you will most likely be getting drinks at all night. Downstairs the layout is a bit smaller with another smaller bar right in front of you when you reach the bottom of the stairs. There is lounge-style seating all over the place surrounding the outer edges of this room. The top floor can get fairly crowded but with the open layout, people don’t tend to congregate too much in any one spot so you won’t feel claustrophobic as you might in some similar spots.

The Brahmin Boston

November 25th, 2011, 03:11:49 Bobby

In the US, the term Brahmin has been applied to the old, wealthy New England families of British Protestant origin that were influential in the development and leadership of science, arts, culture, politics, trade, and academia. I think the name fits the venue well. I think the name fits this venue just right.

Gem Restaurant & Lounge Boston

Storyville Boston

May 18th, 2011, 06:05:34 Bobby

Occupying the space that was once Saint, Storyville Boston is one of Boston’s newest nightlife additions (Oct. 2011) and is really setting the standard for Boston nightlife which seems to be trending a little bit away from the college clubs and towards upscale nightlife with a far more sophisticated clientele looking for something more.

M Bar and Lounge Boston

M Bar and Lounge is a high class bar/lounge located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston that attracts an opulent crowd of 30 to 40 somethings.

Marina Bay Ocean Club

May 18th, 2011, 05:05:12 Bobby

Marina Bay Ocean Club (previously Water Works and Marina Bay Beach Club until Boston nightlife mogul Frank DePasquale purchased it) is one of the premier night spots of Boston/Quincy. The thing that really sticks out to me about this place is the average attractiveness of people there. It’s really not comparable to other places in Boston. Although it’s just a seasonal spot open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, it seems like all of the 9s and 10s wait until Marina Bay Ocean Club opens to go out in Boston. I don’t mean to overstate this fact, but if you have the opportunity I would highly recommend checking this spot out for yourself. Another thing I was really impressed with there was how good the music was that was playing. Some of the drawbacks of Marina Bay Ocean Club are definitely the line and the high cover charge. It cant tend to get cliquey in the sense that most people seem to be there in groups and almost come across as regulars but I can see how a place like this could generate repeat business. Also it is more of a bar/lounge spot, there is not a lot of dancing going on at any time which is a shame since they play such good music but there is plenty of room to dance at Marina Bay Ocean Club if your heart desires to do so.

Drink Boston

May 18th, 2011, 05:05:04 Bobby

Drink has a strong modern atmosphere with a loud positive vibe and sophisticated feel. I love the exposed brick with the light finished wood, the low hanging lights and the big square bar. Drink Boston has a very simple and elegant feel to it.

Located in the Westin Hotel right next to Sauciety Restaurant, Birch Bar Boston is distinguished by dark wood, browns, blues and yellows throughout, modern decor and fancy carpet.

Vintage Lounge Boston

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:41 Bobby

Before first going in to Vintage Lounge, I had walked by it a bunch of times without really knowing what it was. When walking in you notice almost an elegant vibe created from the classy decor, the plush seating, the lighting and the sophisticated clientele. The DJ was good, the bartenders were friendly and overall I enjoyed the social atmosphere of the Vintage Lounge.

Towne Stove Boston

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:46 Bobby

Everyone knows that adding a silent letter to the end of a regular word equals instant trendiness… and in towne’s case, it worked. Towne was a welcome addition to the Boylston bar scene and can definitely be described as a “see and be seen” location. The bouncers will scrutinize your ID to the point that they’ll even have you doubting whether you’re 21+ before you start to wonder who exactly is inside and slowly become impressed with the level of exclusivity. Once inside, towne has a warm, inviting vibe that makes you just want to be there. The cocktail menu has a ton of really interesting sounding combinations, the food is really good and the diverse clientele keeps it classy. Whether you’re a young professional, high-up exec or a total creeper, if you’re looking for an after-work drink spot or somewhere to start your night off right, definitely go to Towne (no pun intended.)

Met Back Bay

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:15 Bobby

Met Back Bay is a chic restaurant bar but in my opinion not necessarily a pickup place or a very social atmosphere per se. The first time I went ot was a Friday night at 12:30 and there were only a couple people at the bar upstairs and maybe 10-15 downstairs at that bar. I would make use of this place to catch up with old friends or to go and have a drink and maybe talk about something of substance, but not really to meet new people or to get rowdy at all because the atmosphere here is very subdued. Besides that, the place is very nice inside, the drinks aren’t cheap and keep in mind Met Back Bay is only open until 1am.

Battery Park Bar and Lounge

April 8th, 2011, 11:04:55 Bobby

A welcomed new addition to the financial district, Battery Park Bar & Lounge’s name is somewhat deceptive. When I think lounge, I think lounge style seating (plush, comfortable couches, etc.) but there is really just restaurant seating in here. It is really just an upscale sports bar in my opnion. Even though most sports bar will have the sports memorabilia and kitsch all over the place, and this venue does not. The atmosphere and decor are really nice. The bar is sleek and the DJ is usually pretty good. The crowd at Battery Park Bar is usually the financier types starting a little after 5pm and it gets a little younger as it becomes later. Still, more of a professional, upscale group that inhabits this classy, new Boston sports bar.

Post 390

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:00 Bobby

Post 390 is a perfect spot for after work drinks but it’s also good when you’re looking to go out but not get too wild. Post390 has a really good drink menu; the mixed drinks are creative (and strong!) and if you’re looking for something more mainstream they make amazing dirty martinis. I honestly think that even their rail vodka is high quality. I have a soft spot for Post especially because their bartender introduced me to the best beer of all time (Rapscallion – a Belgian white made in western mass) and didn’t throw me out once the second one hit me hard. The only drawback was he served them to us in a goblet so we were the only assholes at the bar drinking out of goblets. The food is amazing also, the waiters are a delight (suggesting that I get my martini EXTRA dirty) and the crowd is always classy. I’ve been there a few times and it’s one of my favorite places for the simple fact that you can go for any occasion – on a date, girl’s night out or with a group – and it’ll be a good time.

Cuffs Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:30 Bobby

Cuffs, previously Jury, is located in the Back Bay Hotel. It has most of the qualities of most upscale hotel bar/lounges, hence the beautiful interior design and sultry atmosphere. Despite most of us associating Irish Pubs with less attractive spaces, Cuffs is an Upscale Irish Pub Lounge (New bar category right there.) They stay true to those roots keeping lots of beers on tap and keeping the options wide open in that regard. The crowd is more of a sophisticated younger professional crowd that has a little extra money to spend on drinks and food so they come to Cuffs to rub elbows with like-minded folks.

Lolita Boston

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:14 Bobby

One of the newest additions to the Back Bay and Boston’s nightlife scene, Lolita has fit in very nicely thus far. The fact that Lolita Cocina is a tequila bar should tip you off that this place is a gem. The tequila bar had a ton of different margaritas and the bartenders were really nice because I have severe ADHD and couldn’t make up my mind. It’s a really good date spot because of the dim lighting and music and if you feel awkward theres a shit ton of tequila to ease that awkwardness. It was a Friday night when we went and it wasn’t overly packed but this was right around the time it first opened so that could be why. I had the lolita margarita which was $12 and my friend had the broken heart which was $13. Overall, the reason why I love Lolita Cocina is because of their great atmosphere, interior design and because I am a huge fan of tequila!

April 8th, 2011, 10:04:41 Lito

This is a great place to take someone on a date or spend a romantic evening with a signifcant other. Additionally if you want to treat yourself with some high class drinks and be around those who certainly enjoy their fair share of the finer things in life then I would definitely reccommend checking out Deuxave. It is definitely one of the nicest new restaurant bars in Boston.
